Wild Cherry, I think I Love You: Body Butter VS Body Lotion

Wild cherry I think I love you. But I wanna know for sure.

Ok, I'll stop with the cheesy sing-along. But, seriously the wild cherry products from the Body Shop give the mango products a run for their money.  I won this lovely little set as part of The Beauty Fiends 100 follower give away.  Check out her blog, its wonderful.

As expected the body butter is fabulous - as are all of The Body Shop's Body Butters that I have tried.  It isn't as oily as say the mango one which is for extra dry skin but it does the job, and the smell is soooo good. Unlike typical cherry products that smell sickly sweet and sugary this smells as you would expect wild cherries to smell - just sweet enough but not as if you have dipped yourself like a doughnut into a bag of sugar. 

The shower gel I have reviewed previously on my packing some pink post but I will add that I hope the wild cherry sets get made part of the permanent range in The Body Shop, it would be a real shame for it not to. 

Now on to the Body Lotion, in general body lotion is not something I am a great fan of.  I will always pick a thick body butter over a runny body lotion.  I don't even like the Soap and Glory body lotion, I hate the sticky feeling that lotion leaves on the skin.  However due to how wonderful the cherry body lotion smells I have to give it a try, I can't say I hate it but I don't love it either. It smells great but it is a little sticky feeling on the skin.  This might be because I have dry skin, does body lotion feel nicer for those with more oily skin?

What is in My Handbag - Three Body Shop Lip Products.

Any girl worth her jazzy handbag with have a ton of stuff in there that she doesn't really need but it stays in there anyway's. For my personally my handbag just accumulates stuff from half empty packets of mento's to used train tickets but it also seems to harbour lip products.

At the moment I have three different lip products from the bodyshop. Obviously there is no reason to have all three products in the one bag but they don't take up too  much room so to me this validates it.

1. Mango Lip Butter: this is an old favourite of mine and I have went through a fair amount of tubs throughout the years - why? Because it leaves the lips super soft and smells/tastes great.

2. Natural Lip Roll On in Berry - My flatmate gave me a £2 off voucher for the Body Shop and being a poor student at the time I went in with the intentions of getting the watermelon lip-gloss but on being advised that the lip rolls were better for penetrating dry lips I went for this. I like that it comes in a roll since it means not having to touch the product which is great for the gal on the go. It is made with 100% natural ingredients and is not sticky. It is more like a lip oil if anything.

3. Candied Ginger Lip Balm - I reviewed the accompanying set here. This is different from anything I have ever had from The Body Shop and I was unaware that they actually done lip balms until I received this as a gift.  It is a Vaseline texture which I am a fan off even though I do not actually like normal Vaseline - I find it boring and a little drying on my lips.  This leaves the lips feeling pampered and protected from the outside world.

The Body Shop - Candied Ginger - Graduation Haul

I received this lovely set as a graduation present from my friend over at: The Beauty Fiend back in July and this is me just getting around to blogging about it but it is not due to being unsatisfied with the set.

The set includes a Body butter, Hand Cream, Shower Gel and a Lip Balm.

As you can see in the close up photo the packaging is super cute with little ginger bread men on it. Once of my favourite scents happens to be ginger so I was delighted to receive this as a gift.  It smells very richly of ginger but it is not overly sweet - which is a good thing -because lets face it after a certain age you cannot afford to be going out smelling too much like a sweet shop.

The body butter is as good as all the rest of The Body Shop butter but in texture is more akin to the shea butter or stawberry body butter than the mango one but this does not make it any less great a body butter.  I have been trying not to use this too much at the moment along with the shower gel (which I am failing on) as I feel it will be a fabulous scent for the coming autumn and winter. Ginger is quite a warm spice and it is associated with Christmas in the form of gingerbread men so come the latter seasons this will be keeping my skin nice and soft against the bitter cold. I will have no doubt used all the shower gel by then though because I cannot stop using it.

I have not used the hand cream very much since I am saving it for when I eventually getting a job - so that I actually have a reason to be moisturising my hands - it's the novelty of having something else to stick in your handbag. From testing it out a couple of times it is nice though - not too greasy and smells as divine as the body butter and shower gel.

The lip balm is my favourite though and it is my first lip balm like this from the body shop.  It is like Vaseline in texture and leaves the lips truly moisturised - if you can stop yourself from licking it off, that is. 

All in all another great set from The Body Shop.

1.  Body spray is not something that I would buy individually because I always have an abundance of perfume.  I don't know why but I never run out of the stuff and that is with me passing on bottles to my mother but the Mist You Madly spray came in the Soap and Glory hamper that I bought when it was on offer and I adore it.  It has a lovely floral scent to it - the typical sort of Soap and Glory scent but with less tunes of orange. Back when I had a job I would wear this to work instead of wasting good perfume on such a mundane task.  It has as good holding power as any good perfume though.  The only problem I would say with this is that it comes in a large bottle and therefore it is not practical to just throw it in your handbag.

£6.50 and therefore a good valued alternative to splashing out on perfume.

2.  I have probably referred to some other Soap and Glory product as being my favourite at point in my blogging career but this is truly my favourite product and one of the first ones I ever tried.  This moisturising body mist is amazing for putting on before a night out because it is a mist and therefore does not sit heavy on your skin.  I once bought moisturiser to match my perfume and by the end of the night I just felt sticky due to the heat of the nightclub but this eradicates that problem.  I have also never had any problems with applying it directly after shaving.

3. and 4.  I bought these products together almost a year ago when they were two for £5.00 in Asda.  I had ran of of heat protection spray and my SASS money had just came in so I treated myself to the volumising spray also.  I am totally questioning the fact that I am saying a heat protection spray has lasted me near on a year but I do not recall repurchasing it at any point and I use it every time I straighten my hair.  If what I am saying is true and it has lasted me all that time - amazing value for money.  As far as heat protection spray goes it does the job.  I haven't came across one yet that I love.  The volumising spray is good though and adds some volume to your roots but it does not compare to the angel fish root boosting spray but for the price it is good.

5.  Whilst waiting on manfriend in the trainstation I nipped into The Body Shop to see what they had in their sale and had a good sniff about.  I picked up the wild cherry body butter to start with but having a ridiculous amount of body butter and not very much money I put it back on the shelf but then I seen the wild cherry shower gel at the cash desk for £1.00.  A little bit more in my price range and staying at my manfriends Dad's empty flat does not always mean shower gel never mind nice showergel. It smells so nice - not like a lot of cherry products that smell overly sweet this does smell like wild cherries.  It has that cherry tangy-ness to it.

The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub - Review

My skin has been super dry recently and extremely itchy and having misplaced my exfoliating glove (something every human male or female should have) I dug out the The Body Shop's Mango Body Scrub I got for my birthday.

I got a gift set with the whole mango range but having so many bathroom products means I have not used them all yet.  The mango body scrub has left me very happy though on a bleak day of dissertation work. Simple things.

As you can see from the photo the scrub resembles mooshed up mango.  I feels a bit like that in texture too if I am being honest but the scrub does contain real mango seed oil so that is obviously why.  Don't worry The Body Shop have not just mooshed up some mango's and stuck a price tag on it.  Although that would be a sure fire way to make some money.

Not only is the scrub rough enough to remove your dead skin it also moisturises as it scrubs.  Afterwards my skin was soft and felt like I had just moisturised.  It is more oil than cream based - so I do not know how nice this would be on already oily skin but all skin needs some TLC sometimes.  Especially with the summer coming in.  There is going to be a lot of exfoliating in my future.

I have also been using the matching shower gel recently and I am wondering if it is that drying out my skin.  I'm not going to review the shower gel as my friend already has: http://thebeautyfiend13.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/shower%20gel

But my friend notes that the shower gel, although it smells beautifully of mango's, does not leave scent on the skin.  The scrub however does.  Today I am wearing a scented deodorant, a body spray, perfume, my dry shampoo smells a bit like chocolate and I can still smell mango's.  That is impressive.

It is definitely a body scrub to use in the morning rather than to use before bed - as otherwise the soft oily skin and mango scent would just be wasted.

Price: £12.50 - you only need to use a little drop every time you use it though. It will last a while.

Body butter - some of the best

I am currently in the fortunate position to have my three favourite body butters - this is what happens when your birthday is just after Christmas.

1.  FCUK - Polished Body Butter

• Contains cocoa butter, johoba and almond oil.
• Is a thick cream and leaves the skin feeling slightly oily but leaves the skin looking healthy.
• Smells great - mandarin and osmanthus flower with creamy vanilla notes.
• £5.87 at Boots.

2. Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter

• Contains shea butter and also vera - for 'very dry skin'.
• Is the applied to damp skin.  I usually put it on after a shower or before I go to bed.  If you wear it to bed your sheets will smell of it which is nice.
• I really like this compared to the other Soap and Glory body butter.  The other one I felt sticky on my skin.  Whereas this one might make you swear 'you're wearing velvet'.
• £10.20 from boots but it is a 300ml tub - so it will last you a while.  If you have dry skin like me then it it definitely a good investment.  Boots usually have 3 for 2 offers also.

3. The Body Shop - Mango Body Butter

• Contains - Mango seed oil, community fair trade cocoa butter (all body shop products are ethically friendly) and sweet almond oil.
• It hydrates skin and leaves it soft and smooth.  The exotic mango scent is simply lush.
• I have used the strawberry and the raspberry body butters in the past but the mango one is my favourite.
• This one is my favourite body butter but for  a 200ml tub it is £12.50 - so it is a bit more expensive than the other two but a tub usually lasts me over a year. 
• The body shop do gift sets a lot of the time so you might actually get more value if you buy one of the sets.  The set I got for my birthday had soap, lip butter, shower gel, body scrub and the body butter.  On the website it is £25 - for £10 more you can get all that extra stuff.

All the body butters I have mentioned are of a high standard and work really well with dry skin.  The body shop website can tell you which body butter will suit your skin type though.
