Motley Crue - Sex - Single Review

It is surprising that Motley Crue haven't had a song with the title 'sex' before now because it is sure something that they probably know more about than the average whore. Dirty dirty boys and that is not a dig at Tommy Lee. Their autobiography was not called The Dirt for nothing. 


On the first couple of days of release the band had the single on free download via their site which I thought was a really nice gesture for their fans. Especially unemployed fans like me.  These times are hard. I might have just laughed at the use of the adjective hard but if the word fits. 

The song itself does not have many words to it other than 'it's all about the sex' but I have a feeling that live the song with be more amazing a bit like Kickstart my Heart is. It packs the typical Motley attitude and swagger which reassures me that this song will grow on people even if it feels a little watered down to start with. 


The band are currently touring the U.S with Kiss and The Treatment and I would put money on them playing Download 2013.  Hopefully they do so I can test my theory to see if the song is less woeful live and join in with the trademark Motley Crue 'woahs'.

Bands to Keep an Eye On - The Treatment

The Treatment have over the last month become one of my favourite bands.  After seeing them support Steel Panther,on their Ball's Out tour,I was instantly hooked. 

Despite the band's baby faces they play like have been on the rock scene for decades. 

Prior to the gig I was told that they were like a 'heavier' version of The Darkness and I couldn't agree more.  Well without the spandex.  The band resemble your typical rock band who focus more on the music than the aesthetics but all in all they are not a bad looking band.

A lot different from Motley Crue and Kiss who they will be supporting on their joint tour this summer.   British folk like myself can look forward to seeing The Treatment at Download Festival though and some tours dates in May.

Due to the bands stage confidence and the fact they are supporting two of the biggest names in rock come the summer I made the assumption that the band were American but they are not.  They are British! All I can say in my Scottish accent is 'Mon the British rock n roll'!

The band are the epitome of 'rock music' and it is refreshing to hear a band so comfortable in this simple yet great genre. 

The band's current album 'This Might Hurt' is hands down once of the best albums I have heard in a long time. 

Track's to play particular attention to are 'The Doctor', 'Shake the Mountain', 'Just Tell me Why' and 'Drink, Fuck Fight'

The band's sound reminds me of AC/DC meets Guns 'n' Roses.  Musically very similar to ACDC but vocally  a bit more like Guns 'n' Roses.

The band's lead guitarist actually reminds me a bit of Angus Young with his mannerisms on stage.  Something that is unusual about the band though is that even though I have only seen the band live once - all members of the band stood out to me.  The band have stage presence, attitude, music and lyrics all down to perfection.

They have the combination of swagger and elegance in their music.  It is not all fantastical riffs and guitar solo's with no substantial lyrics or talent in some cases - like a lot of amateur bands in this genre.  This is the real deal.  If The Treatment are not a global phenomenon in the next couple of years I will be very surprised.

I think this band are the next big thing and with the fan base they will collect over this summer I expect their coverage in the press to boom!

Steel Panther - Live Review - Glasgow 28/03/12

Any excuse to back-comb my hair and wear an excessive amount of glitter and leopard print (also known as being extremely tacky) and I’m there but a Steel Panther gig gave me a valid reason to rock the tackiness up a notch.

On questioning my flatmate on whether my outfit was tacky enough the response was ‘just wait on until you do your makeup’ – oh burn.  True though.  It is all part of the fun of being a part-time glam rocker – just like the band that I was going to see.

Anyone who believes that Steel Panther are all they proclaim to be in their songs – womanising, drug taking, party animal - are extremely deluded – what Steel Panther do is perfect the act of satire. I have no doubt that the band have enjoyed all the above at some point in their lives but what they are famous for is their cheeky lyrics that poke fun at the glam metal scene itself. 

‘I get high, that ain’t no lie. But I can’t afford another friggin DUI’.

This was not my first time seeing the funny foursome but this was the first time seeing them headline their own show – at the Glasgow O2 Academy.  This band needs no special effects nothing flashy – the whole band has stage presence and charisma.  Even Zadinia the drummer.

The costumes and the crude jokes aside the band is extremely talented – in all that they do – from the stage persona they take on to the lyrics and music.  Every member of the band possesses great musical talent and excel musically.  I feel the humour of the band sometimes overshadows the bands sheer talent.

Andy Copping the book for Download Festival recently said – “Anyone who hasn't bought into STEEL PANTHER yet, I think it's time you went shopping...they are the future...love 'em”! The band is due to play Download Festival this summer.

The band played new tracks from Balls out the latest album and old classics like Community Property from Feel the Steel- that one had the whole crowd singing along.  They also played the highly anticipated hit Death to All But Metal which resulted in the crowd heavy rocking out.

As expected there were boobs on show – with the band inviting girls on to stage and then asking them to get...well their boobs out.  Everyone loves a nice set of boobs, don’t they?

After the gig I waited out the back of the venue to see the band and got my ticket signed – each member was so lovely.  Starr and Foxxx are rather beautiful up close as expected but Satchel and Zadinia are also both strikingly good looking – although I am not sure how good looking they would be without the wigs. You can tell they enjoy meeting their fans and appreciate the support.

If you want to have both a good time, see a talented band, see some boobs and have a laugh then Steel Panther are the band for you to go see. If you are easily shocked then it is not for you.
